CYBEX Solution S
A High-Back Booster That Grows With Your Child
The CYBEX Solution S is designed to provide lasting protection and comfort throughout the school years. Suitable from 100–150 cm and up to 50 kg, it adapts as your child grows from approximately three to 12 years.
Twelve headrest positions allow the seat to be adjusted gradually as your child becomes taller. Raising the headrest also widens the shoulder area automatically, helping maintain a supportive fit without requiring separate width adjustments.
Age ranges are approximate. Children should only move into a high-back booster once they meet the stated height requirements and can sit correctly throughout every journey.
Reclining Headrest for Safer Sleeping
The patented CYBEX reclining headrest is designed to help prevent a sleeping child’s head from falling forwards and outside the protected area of the car seat.
Three headrest recline settings allow parents to position the head more comfortably while keeping it within the protective side wings. CYBEX states that maintaining the head inside this protected area can improve head protection in a side impact by up to seven times compared with the head falling outside it, based on the company’s internal testing.
The reclining headrest does not restrain the child by itself. The vehicle’s three-point seat belt must always be correctly routed through the Solution S belt guides and positioned across the child’s shoulder and hips.
Linear Side-Impact Protection
The CYBEX Solution S combines a deep high-backed shell, protective headrest and Linear Side-impact Protection system.
During initial installation, the L.S.P. element automatically unfolds to provide additional protection at the side of the seat. If space is limited, it can be folded away in accordance with the product instructions.
In a side collision, the system is designed to begin managing the impact before directing forces into the energy-absorbing shell and headrest. CYBEX states that this can reduce side-impact forces by up to 25% compared with the same seat without its L.S.P. system, based on internal testing.
Adjustable in Height and Width
Children change considerably between the ages of three and 12, so a booster seat needs to adapt to more than their height alone.
The Solution S provides 12 headrest positions and automatically widens through the shoulder area as the headrest is raised. This helps maintain appropriate space and support as your child grows, while the one-handed adjustment makes it straightforward to update the fit.
Check the headrest and vehicle-belt position regularly rather than relying on the previous setting. The diagonal belt should pass correctly across the shoulder rather than against the neck, while the lap section should sit low across the hips and follow the marked belt guides.
Reclining Backrest for Rest and Comfort
When installed with ISOFIX, the Solution S backrest can be reclined by adjusting the seat’s position against the vehicle seat.
This allows parents to find a more comfortable resting position for longer journeys while keeping the booster properly aligned with the vehicle. The reclining backrest works alongside the reclining headrest to provide additional support when a child falls asleep.
The available recline will depend on the shape and position of the vehicle seat. Always follow the Solution S instructions and check compatibility with your exact vehicle.
ISOFIX Installation and Vehicle-Belt Restraint
The CYBEX Solution S connects directly to compatible vehicle ISOFIX anchorage points, providing additional stability and helping keep the booster secured when it is not occupied.
Visual indicators help confirm when the ISOFIX connectors are correctly engaged. The backrest should then be aligned with the vehicle seat before the child is secured using the vehicle’s three-point seat belt.
The child is always restrained by the vehicle belt rather than an integrated harness. Route the lap and diagonal belt through the marked guides and check that the belt lies flat without twists.
CYBEX also states that the Solution S can be used in certain vehicles without ISOFIX by folding the connectors into the seat and securing both the child and booster with a compatible three-point vehicle belt. Always consult the user guide and vehicle compatibility information before using this installation method.
Comfort and Style Fabric Options
The CYBEX Solution S is available in Comfort and Style finishes, allowing families to choose between understated practicality and the more distinctive Platinum Style treatment.
Comfort models use soft upholstery and a ventilated seat shell designed to encourage airflow around the child. They retain the core safety, adjustment and reclining features of the Solution S.
Style models add breathable 3D mesh fabric, which CYBEX states can increase airflow by up to six times compared with conventional fabrics. The mesh is designed to regulate moisture and help keep children more comfortable during warmer journeys.
Style models also feature two-tone leather-look detailing inspired by premium vehicle interiors and include an integrated XXL sun canopy.
Integrated Sun Canopy on Style Models
The Solution S Style includes an integrated XXL canopy designed to shield children from direct sunlight and reduce glare while travelling.
The main canopy fabric provides UPF50+ protection, while a breathable mesh window encourages additional airflow. The mesh section itself is not UPF50+, so the canopy should always be positioned with that distinction in mind.
The canopy is exclusive to Solution S Style models and is not included with the standard Comfort finish.
CYBEX Solution S vs Solution T i-Fix
The CYBEX Solution S replaces Solution T i-Fix within the new Platinum S-Line range.
Both seats are premium high-back boosters suitable from 100–150 cm and approximately three to 12 years. They share many of the features that made Solution T popular, including a reclining headrest, height and width adjustment, side-impact protection and ventilated fabrics.
Solution S develops the design with:
- Updated UN R129/04 approval
- 12 clearly defined headrest positions
- Automatic Linear Side-impact Protection deployment
- A manufacturer-stated side-impact improvement of up to 25%
- New Comfort and Style fabric choices
- Breathable 3D mesh on Style models
- An integrated XXL sun canopy on Style models
- A maximum published child weight of 50 kg
Solution T i-Fix remains an established seat and achieved an ADAC test-winning result in October 2023 within its tested category. The arrival of Solution S does not make an existing Solution T unsafe or obsolete when it remains suitable for the child and continues to be used according to its instructions.
Solution S is the natural choice for families purchasing the latest CYBEX Platinum high-back booster and wanting the updated S-Line design, R129/04 approval and Style fabric options.
When Should a Child Move Into the Solution S?
The Solution S is approved for children measuring from 100–150 cm. Age guidance of approximately three years is only an estimate and should not be used as the sole reason to move a child into a booster.
Before changing from a harnessed or impact-shield seat, the child should:
- Meet the Solution S minimum height requirement
- Have outgrown or be ready to leave their previous seat
- Be able to remain seated correctly for the complete journey
- Keep the vehicle belt in the correct position
- Avoid leaning forwards or slipping underneath the lap belt
A child who frequently falls out of position may be better supported by their previous car seat for longer, provided they remain within its approved limits.

Chelsea Baby’s View
The CYBEX Solution S is a refined high-back booster that focuses on the details that matter during the school years: correct belt positioning, adaptable side support and better head positioning when a child falls asleep.
The reclining headrest remains one of its most useful features. Rather than simply adding cushioning, it is designed to help keep the head within the protective area of the seat. The automatic width adjustment is equally practical because it allows the booster to accommodate changes in both height and shoulder width.
Style models will appeal to families who value additional ventilation and the integrated sun canopy, while Comfort versions provide the same core adjustment and protection features at a lower price point.
As with every booster seat, correct vehicle-belt routing is essential. We recommend checking the Solution S in your intended vehicle and making sure your child can maintain an appropriate seating position before purchasing.
